Pineapple Pieces

We love the pineapple. It is a timeless motif that manages to match a fascinating history with contemporary appeal

Our glitter gold pineapple garland is one of our most popular products and we have sent it as far afield as Israel.

The pineapple is a symbol of hospitality and welcome which is why it is routinely spied as a door knocker and on welcome mats. Thanks to Christopher Columbus, it is also associated with luxury. Columbus brought the pineapple to Spain from the Caribbean. Because of its rarity and fragility and that fact it was almost two centuries before anyone in Europe worked out how to cultivate it – the pineapple  fast became the must have show off  fruit at the banquet table  and the hostess gift de jour.

Our pineapple cutlery pouch is the way to go when you want to do some easy entertaining.  You put the napkin and cutlery in the night before and put the cutlery pouches on the table - table setting done.

The pineapple motif popped up in wood carvings, brass fittings and soft furnishings in stately homes and historic buildings throughout Europe and the more recently in the Americas. King Charles II of England posed for his royal portrait in 1675 while being gifted a pineapple by the Royal Gardener, John Rose.

The pineapple really is a gift fit for a king which is why we have a number of pineapple pieces in our product range. We love the oranges and pinks of the pineapple stationery by Jessica Leigh – scrumptious pineapple posters, pineapple greeting cards and pineapple gift tags.

We have a white textured pineapple garland for a breezy coastal chic look and we shamelessly re purpose our glitter garland as a gift tag when we are looking for a bit of extra pop.

So you can guess what gift tag we are going to use to wrap these fabulous little earrings we spied recently…….

Guess the quest for fabulous pineapples will continue a little while yet.

Christmas Tree Gift Tags

Posted on November 09, 2015 by Vivienne Anthon | 0 comments

O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree! Thy leaves are so unchanging. Unless of course it is a Christmas Tree Gift Tag which we are loving for the upcoming festive season.

We source our Christmas tree tags from The Paper Empire in Melbourne which creates cool and quirky gift tags for all occasions. They name all of their newly created gift tags and Terry the Christmas tree was one of the first to receive its moniker. There is something vaguely heart warming about calling your gift tag by its first name.

The Christmas Tree Tags include the red Terry, white Terry and kraft Terry. The thing about the tag is that it can become the feature, meaning you don't have to waste time or funds on fussy Christmas paper. Use plain paper and let Terry do the heavy lifting. Terry can also be used for mini bunting, place cards, to jazz up a kraft  lolly bag, adorn a stocking on your chimney (or virtual chimney) as a book marks or to loving make a Christmas card.

The tags create a traditional wrapping look.

For those who like the ephemeral, golden, floaty Christmas look, Terry still comes up a treat.

And Terry also has an edgier funky fluoro incarnation. We are loving the hot pink Terry because we are going to go with a hot pink theme for one of our Christmas looks.  If you have a particular colour you love, email us to discuss with us making a unique colour tag for you.

So whatever your Christmas look, think about a Terry Christmas tree because as the famous Christmas carol goes

"O Christmas Tree O Christmas Tree! Much pleasure thou cans't give me.

"O Christmas Tree O Christmas Tree! Much pleasure thou cans't give me.

How often has the Christmas tree afforded me the greatest glee!

"O Christmas Tree O Christmas Tree! Much pleasure thou cans't give me.

Flamingo a go go

Posted on November 07, 2015 by Vivienne Anthon | 0 comments

Our sister has a property in the beautiful Brisbane Valley. She has a penchant for decorating her dam - who wouldn't? Which is why we weren't one bit surprised to see a giant flamingo floating gracefully on her dam when we drove in for a long lunch recently. Our sister has always had a thing about flamingos and she says the rest of the world is now catching up with her!

Must be the fabulous pink of the flamingo that draws the eye. That is certainly the case for our beautiful flamingo stationery from talented Melbourne artist Jessica Leigh. The A3 and A4 flamingo prints, flamingo greeting card and flamingo gift tags are too cute and among our best sellers. They make instant impact as a decorator touch.

But then again, may be its the distinctive flamingo motif that appeals. Our rose gold and silver flamingo wrap was one of the most popular posts on Facebook recently.

There are heaps of fabulous flamingo touches out there. We picked up some adorable flamingo Christmas tree lights, as well as some gorgeous flamingo skirts for two very special little girls, flamingo cushions and duvets, flamingo serviettes and even flamingo coloured nail polish.

These fabulous Flamingo skirts are available from Betty & Lola

Is the colour? Is it the distinctive shape? Is it the fact that flamingos are occasion agnostic? Is it the fact the collective noun for a group of flamingos is a flamboyance? Who knows? But one thing is for sure...the flamingo is really the go go!

5 Great Gift Suggestions for Dachshund Devotees

Posted on June 18, 2015 by Jacky Barker | 1 comment

Just a few weeks ago, I found myself literally in the middle of an RSPCA Million Paws Walk. I hope lots of dollars were raised for this really worthy cause.

Dogs of all shapes, sizes and breeds were parading around in the height of fashion from RSPCA bandanas to crystal studded collars and fancy capes that would put Batman to shame. There were Huskies, Poodles, Corgis, Vislars, Great Danes, Chihuahuas and many many Dachshunds.

A Dachshund  cuts a particularly fine silhouette – there’s just something about the Doxie that’s well – adorable. That adorableness multiplies when the distinctive Dachshund is captured on stationery and home accessories.

Dachshund tea towels, gift tags and bunting are among our best sellers – purchased with equal zeal by Dachshund and non-Dachshund owners alike.  The good news is that we have expanded our range to include even more gift suggestions for people who love everything Dachshund.

Dachshund Silhouette Cards

This solo Dachshund silhouette works well as a card – its blank inside so it can be used for any occasion – but it works even better when mounted in a photo frame to a stylist’s flair to any room.

Dachshund Silhouette Card

Ich Bin Ein Dachshund

The ich bin ein silhouette card is also blank inside and perfect for that quirky someone or occasion. As they say in the fashion world – work your silhouette – and when it comes to the world of canine fashion, the Dachshund owns the catwalk. Or should that be dog walk?

Daschund Bunting

Our dachshund garland makes a great gift for the dachshund lover. The ten individual Penny dachshunds and 3 metres of twine can be used to brighten up your favourite places and spaces. The dachshunds are packed flat, making them the perfect gift to post interstate or overseas.

Dachshund Gift Tag

Penny the dachshund is part of the Guten Tag range of tags for cool and quirky gifts.   Use these gift tags to adorn gifts, as place cards, invitations, bookmarks or mini bunting.

Dachshund Tea Towel

True words of wisdom for all the dog lovers out there. Beautifully hand screen printed in milk chocolate brown on a white 100% cotton Tea Towel. For hanging on the wall or drying the dishes. We call our tea towels - fabric posters.
So whether you are looking for a gift for a dog lover or a dachshund devotee you have heaps of brilliant gifts to choose from.
